2nd Year Anniversary Check-in
When The Spice Way opened its doors two years ago, one of its missions was, and still continues to be, helping people in the kitchen by making cooking easier without sacrificing flavor or nutrition. They wanted people to experience the amazing health benefits of using high quality spices and herbs in their cooking and see first-hand how it can transform a meal into something really memorable.
As The Spice Way approaches its two-year anniversary and looks back on this last year, there is much to celebrate. They have taught, cooked and blended their way into the community, all the while bringing incredible flavor and fun into everyday meals.
Here are a few of the highlights of this past year’s accomplishments:
- Free cooking demos. It is a great way to get fresh new ideas i the kitchen and get motivated to cook.
- Themed events that will now be a part of their yearly planning including a Tea Party, Honey Event and Gift Event.
- Becoming a regular fixture at the Rancho Santa Fe Farmer’s Market on Sundays.
- Collaborated with over 12 different non-profit organizations and their events.
- Donated to more than 16 non-profits in our community.
- Continue to offer cooking classes to the community, private groups and corporate events.
- Owner, Debbie Kornberg, has even appeared on Fox 5 News
The Spice Way has become a dynamic force in the Encinitas community and reaches out to the larger San Diego community as well.
Marking its two-year anniversary on April 9th, The Spice Way will feature free cooking demonstrations throughout the day, kid’s activities, free tastings, and an opportunity drawing. To celebrate, a 15% off sale on all spices and tea will be available. New to their repertoire of offerings will be a self-care demonstration educating customers how to utilize herbs and spices for taking care of the skin. Planned guests will feature Mayor Catherine Blakespear, Council Members Joe Masco and Tasha Boerner Horvath and hopefully you as well. The theme is Nature with Benefits, and they will offer these activities throughout the day between 11:30am – 3:30pm.
Debbie Kornberg shares,
“As owner of The Spice Way-San Diego, it has been a wonderful ride so far. Being a small business is no easy feat, but being in this community sure makes it fun and worthwhile. Encinitas, and its surrounding areas, are awesome with amazing people. Getting to know them is one of the best parts of the job. …One of my favorite moments this year was when a customer purchased our Pumpkin Spice Blend and prepared a homemade granola with it and brought us back some to sample. It was so delicious, and now we have the recipe to share with the rest of our customers.
